Odisha Floods

A total of 481 villages in 12 districts across Odisha have been affected by the recent heavy downpour in the State following incessant rain.

The floods and heavy downpours in the second and third weeks of August affected as many as 24 districts in the state.

After the devastating flood in Mahanadi system, a fresh flood threat has now cropped up in the Subarnarekha river system.

Odisha Government has decided to provide Sanitary/Hygiene kits to women and young girls in the flood affected areas.

CM Naveen Patnaik has ordered to place one helicopter with the collector to carry out rescue and relief operations during the floods in the Subarnarekha River system.

SRC Pradeep Jena also urged people not to try to cross road, bridges or culverts where floodwater is flowing.

Former Mumbai Police Commissioner & Odisha-Mo Parivar Convenor Arup Patnaik visited flood affected areas in Khordha district to take stock of the situation.

The Regional Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in different parts of the State due to low pressure.

There will be no rains today, but intense rainfall has been predicted for August 19. Rains will continue on August 20 too.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today made an aerial survey of flood affected areas in Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara to assess the damages caused by the calamity.
