Cyclone Sitrang

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that Cyclone Sitrang developed over the east-central Bay of Bengal around the late evening hours on Sunday.

The Low Pressure Area over north Andaman Sea and south-east Bay of Bengal intensified into a Depression on Saturday morning.

The Depression formed over the eastcentral Bay of Bengal intensified into a Deep Depression about 580 km northwest of Port Blair.

The depression formed over the Bay of Bengal is likely to turn into a Deep Depression on Sunday and a Cyclonic Storm #Sitrang by Monday.

The Bhubaneswar Met Centre confirmed on Friday that a low-pressure area has formed over the Andaman Sea on Thursday and will intensify into a depression by Saturday and subsequently a cyclone by Monday.

With a low-pressure area forming over the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said that there may not be a cyclone threat to Odisha.
