The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday informed that a cyclonic circulation has formed and lays over southeast Bay of Bengal.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that Cyclone Sitrang developed over the east-central Bay of Bengal around the late evening hours on Sunday.

With a low-pressure area forming over the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said that there may not be a cyclone threat to Odisha.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday that a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclone after October 22.

Odisha may receive heavy to heavy rainfalls next week as another low-pressure area is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal.

According to IMD, A low pressure area has been formed over northeast and adjoining areas of eastcentral Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh-Myanmar coasts at 05:30 hrs IST on August 18.

The incessant rains in Odisha under the influence of back-to-back low pressures in the Bay of Bengal have resulted the swelling of major rivers across Odisha.

With back-to-back low pressure systems in Bay of Bengal triggering rain havoc, the flood situation is turning grim in several areas in Odisha due to the rising water levels in the Mahanadi river basin.

Odisha will witness rains under the influence of the low pressure from August 18. Coastal Odisha May be affected heavily.

Another Low Pressure Area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal by August 13, informed the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
