Odisha panchayat elections

On the third and final day of counting, the State Election Commission (SEC) has declared the results of all the 852 Zila Parishad Zones.

While the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is all set to create history by winning over 750 out of 851 Zilla Parishad Zones in the state, main opposition BJP, which had won 297 seats in 2017, is struggling to get past even the 50 mark!

The Congress Party, which is fighting a survival battle and now threatens to replace the BJP as the No. 2 party in the ongoing Panchayat Polls, is at the 3rd spot with 30 seats. Interestingly, 25 out of these 30 seats are from South Odisha.

Odisha has registered 73% voting in the fourth phase of the polling in the three-tier panchayat elections, informed the State Election Commission (SEC) on Tuesday.

Around 78.6% voter turnout was recorded during the third phase of the Panchayat polls in Odisha, informed the State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday.

Odisha witnessed 78.3% voters turnout in the second phase of the ongoing panchayat polls held on Friday, informed the SEC on Saturday.

Panchayat Polls in Odisha will be held in 5 phases on on February 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24. Counting of Votes and Results will be declared in 3 phases.
