Low Pressure

Under the influence of yesterday's cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area has been formed over Andaman Sea area this morning.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday that a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclone after October 22.

After rubbishing the predictions of global weather experts for long, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has finally predicted the possibility of a Cyclone in the West-Central Bay of Bengal after October 22.

That may further intensify into a low pressure area by October 20 over southeast and adjoining central parts of Bay of Bengal, triggering heavy rains.

 Due to the effect of low pressure, an orange warning has been issued for 8 Odisha districts, predicting heavy to very heavy rain.

The incessant rains in Odisha under the influence of back-to-back low pressures in the Bay of Bengal have resulted the swelling of major rivers across Odisha.

With back-to-back low pressure systems in Bay of Bengal triggering rain havoc, the flood situation is turning grim in several areas in Odisha due to the rising water levels in the Mahanadi river basin.

Odisha will witness rains under the influence of the low pressure from August 18. Coastal Odisha May be affected heavily.

The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional centre, Bhubaneswar has predicted heavy rainfall for 13 districts of the State in the next 24 hours.

Another Low Pressure Area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal by August 13, informed the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
