Indian benchmark equity indices closed the final trading session of the week in the red.

The benchmark equity indices ended Thursday’s trading session in positive territory.

Benchmark stock market indices saw a brief respite on Wednesday session as they closed higher, fuelled by a rise in IT sector stocks which were helped amid anticipation of US inflation data.

The domestic equity markets saw a positive close on Tuesday, with the Sensex rising 170 points to 76,500 and the Nifty gaining 90 points to end at 23,176. 

The BSE Sensex fell 1,048.90 points, or 1.36%, to close at 76,330.01.

Indian equity indices ended on a negative note on January 10 with Nifty below 23,450.

Benchmark stock market indices closed lower on Thursday, dragged by a decline in IT, banking, financial and energy sector stocks as volatility prevailed.

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended marginally lower in a volatile session on Wednesday.
