The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has swept the assembly polls in Gujarat, by breaking the previous biggest win of Madhav Singh Solanki of 149 seats way back in 1985.
BJD Candidate Barsha Singh Bariha set a record in Padampur's election history as she won the bypoll by a margin of 42,106 votes. BJP Candidate Pradip Purohit had to end up on the losing side.
The worst fears of BJP came true. People of Himachal Pradesh rejected the ruling party and went with Congress, keeping their anti-establishment stance intact.
As expected, the ruling BJP is surging ahead in Gujarat and leading in 147 out of 182 seats, while the Congress is ahead in 23 seats only. The Aam Aadmi Party is leading in just 9 seats.
