Boxer Vijender in Trouble over Huge Drug Seizure
Olympian Vijender Singh landed in fresh trouble over the seizure of Rs 130 crore drugs in Punjab. His name was dragged in the case after his wife’s car was found outside the flat in Zirakpur from where heroin was recovered.
Police claimed that 10 kg of heroin was also recovered from another car. However, it is not confirmed that the car was of Vijender Singh’s wife. The boxer’s link in the case was reported after one person was arrested on March 3, who alleged that he had supplied small amounts of heroin to Vijender and another boxer Ram Singh.
Police are probing the links between the accused and two boxers on the basis of the allegations. It is alleged that the accused named as Anup Singh Kahlon was linked in international drug peddling racket.
However, Vijender Singh denied any link with the drug seizure. He claimed that he was out of station and his car was at NIS Patiala. Vijender’s brother dismissed the allegations saying the boxer has never taken drugs.
He is the first Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal. He has won a bronze medal at 2006 Asian Games in Doha and a bronze at 2008 Beijing Olympics.
