Anti-Rape Protests: BJP seeks Special Parliament Session
TNI Bureau: Leader of Opposition Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said that the BJP leaders would meet President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday demanding a special Parliament session on the anti-rape protests that rocked the national capital after a 23-year-old girl was gangarped on December 16.
Sushma said that the Opposition had raised the gagngrape issue in the House, but they were not given satisfactory reply. She also dragged the media attention alleging that the government did not call an all-party meeting on the issue when the entire nation is outraged.
However, the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde ruled out the need of having a special Parliament session.
The protests are still on and the protesters have gathered at Jantar Mantar today after they were not allowed to stage demonstration at India Gate in the morning.
