Asaram Bapu blames Delhi Gangrape Victim for Incident
TNI Bureau: Spiritual leader Asaram Bapu landed in a fresh controversy for blaming the Delhi gangrape girl for the incident. He reportedly said that the 23-year-old girl was as guilty as the culprits accused for the brutal crime.
While delivering a prabachan (lecture) yesterday, Asaram Bapu said that six people were not culprits, but the victim was as guilty as the rapists. She could have addressed the culprits as brothers and begged before them for her dignity and life.
“Can one hand clap? I don’t think so,”, he said. Bapu, who has billions of followers across the country and devotees worship him as ‘God’ or ‘Satguru’, such type of remarks were not expected from him.
Reports said that Bapu was against the strong punishment for the accused the law could be misused. He said that girls and boys should be taught good things during their childhood. The law will not stop the sexual assault.
Bapu’s remarks shock everyone when the entire nation has been demanding strong law for the safety of women and pouring tears for the victim, who died in Singapore hospital after battling for life on December 29.
