Shinde blames Pakistan for Rumours on Northeast
TNI Bureau: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde blamed Pakistan over the issue of northeast exodus saying the social media sites are being misused by people based in Pakistan to spread the rumours, posting false pictures and stories that hurt the communal sentiments in India.
Shinde on Sunday talked to his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik over phone seeking his cooperation to find out such people and to stop spreading rumours that fuelled panic amongst northeast people.
Once again two neighbouring countries developed bitter relationship after the doctored MMS triggered exodus of Northeast Indians from Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune.
However, Pakistan rejected the Indian government’s stand saying the allegation was baseless. “Everything happening in India is Pakistan-sponsored is irresponsible statement. Strange to see Indian Home Secretary announcing their investigations in the middle of night,” sources in Pakistan said.
Meanwhile, the government has ordered blocking of 80 more Internet pages and user-accounts on social networking sites including Facebook, Google and Twitter to avoid panic among Northeast Indians as most of the sites were found hosting inflammatory content that spread rumours targeting the northeast people.
