Hemant Soren takes Oath as Jharkhand CM
JMM party chief Shibu Soren’s son Hemant Soren was sworn-in as the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Governor Syed Ahmed administered his oath of office at the premises of Raj Bhavan today.
Hemant Soren will now head the coalition government six months after the imposition of President’s Rule, which is about to end on July 18. The President rule was imposed on January 18 after the JMM withdrew support to the BJP-led government on January 8 this year.
Soren is the fifth tribal leader to become the CM of Jharkhand after Babulal Marandi, Arjun Munda, Shibu Soren and Madhu Koda since the state was created in 2000.
This is the third government in the same house in alliance with JMM-LP, Congress, RJD, smaller parties and independent MLAs after the 2009 assembly polls.
