Govt hikes Non-subsidised LPG price by Rs 26.5 per cylinder
TNI Bureau: Days after the government unveiled the consolidation plans to increase country’s economy and reduce inflation, hiked the non-subsidised LPG price by Rs 26.5 per 14.2-kg cylinder, putting a heavy burden on the consumers.
With the current price hike, the 14.2-kg cooking gas cylinder will now cost Rs 922, up from Rs 895.50 in Delhi. Similarly, the price of commercial 14.2-kg LPG cylinder will be available at Rs 1,105.5 and for 19-kg cylinder it would be Rs 1,551 in the national capital.
The move is a huge setback for the common consumers, who will have to spend extra money from their pockets on cooking gas as the government has put a cap on the subsidised domestic LPG cylinders to six per household in a year.
Earlier, the government had hiked LPG price by Rs 11.42 per cylinder last month. Even though, the government is facing severe criticism over its decision on fuel price hike and FDI in retail, the recent move would be opposed by various sections of people.
