Former Maoist Leader Ganti Prasadam Killed
Former Maoist leader and revolutionary writer Ganti Prasada Rao alias Prasadam died following a murderous attack by unidentified miscreants. He succumbed to bullet injuries at Narayana hospital in Nellore today.
Ganti Prasadam sustained serious injuries after he was shot by unidentified persons with knives and country-made revolver on Thursday afternoon in Nellore where he had visited to take part in the Amaraveerula Smaraka Dinam (martyrs’ day meeting) of the Viplava Rachayita Sangham (Revolutionary Writers’ Association).
He was a poet, revolutionary writer and convener of the Martyr’s Committee of Friends and Relatives. Earlier, Prasadam had worked as the central committee member of the People’s War.
Prasadam was accused in the Aurangabad conspiracy case. Later, he was acquitted for lack of evidence in the case. He was believed to have good relation with top Maoist leader Ramakrishna.
He was released from jail in Odisha in exchange of the abducted Malkangiri collector R. Vineel Krishna in 2011.
