Obama needed 270 to retain his Presidency. Romney gave him a tough fight, but California changed the course of the battle, as Obama secured all 55 votes there. Obama also captured Pennsylvania and Wisconsin along with Ohio. Obama will be sworn-in on January 20, 2013.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama has tweeted to thank his supporters, confirming that he won the elections. “This happened because of you. Thank you”, he tweeted. Although Romney won the popular votes, he could not beat Obama in the fierce battle, as the swing states voted for the latter.
