Brazil in World Cup Semis, Neymar Badly Injured
Hosts Brazil advanced to the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 victory over spirited Colombia, but lost its star Neymar, who has been ruled out of the World Cup with a fractured back bone just two minutes before the close.
Neymar was taken out of the field in stretcher, after he fell down and fractured his back bone while trying to beat the challenge from Juan Zuniga in the 88th minute. Later, it was confirmed that he will miss the remaining matches of the World Cup.
For Brazil, Thiago Silva struck the first goal in the seventh minute. Luiz scored the second one. For Colombia, tournament’s leading scorer James Rodriguez scored through a penalty just ten minutes before the end.
