TNI Bureau: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has found himself in a tight spot ahead of assembly elections in the state, thanks to fresh allegations against him in public domain. The BJP has used the exposure in the media to target the veteran Congress leader.
The BJP has demanded an impartial probe into the allegations of tax evasion, money laundering, corruption, bribery and forgery against Virbhadra Singh. Tne party also ridiculed Congress President Sonia Gandhi for giving “anti-graft sermons” from a stage where Virbhadra Singh was also present.
The newspaper report has claimed that Virbhadra had received bribes and kickbacks through a Shimla-based former LIC agent Anand Chauhan. Singh was also accused of altering his income tax record books from 2008 onwards to evade tax. He allegedly received huge kickbacks from ISPAT.
