Bihar Mid-Day Meal Tragedy: Principal Arrested
A week after 23 school children died after consuming mid-day-meal in Bihar, police arrested the principal of the Dharmasati Gandaman primary school in Chhapra, Meena Devi. Her husband Arjun Prasad Yadav, a co-accused, is still at large.
Meena Devi was arrested on Wednesday. She is being interrogated by the police at a Chhapra police station. Earlier on Wednesday, she had moved an anticipatory bail petition in the court of CJM Chhapra. But her bail application was rejected by the court.
An FIR had been registered against her with Mashrakh police station in the mid-day meal case under 302 (murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy). She had been absconding since the incident on JUly 17 along with her husband.
An initial report by Saran Commissioner Shashi Shekhar Sharma and DIG Vinod Kumar found that the Principal of the school was responsible for the tragedy that claimed 23 innocent lives.
