MP Congress Leader Rakesh Singh joins BJP
Beleaguered Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who has been under tremendous pressure after the Raghavji episode, has received a major boost today, as senior Congress leader Choudhury Rakesh Singh opposed the no-confident motion brought by his own party and joined the BJP soon after.
Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Rakesh Singh left the Congress red-faced and shocked when he termed the non-confidence motion against Shivraj Singh Chauhan as ‘incomplete’. Later, went to the Speaker’s office and held discussion with the CM. Within a few minutes, he was seen at the BJP Headquarters, where he announced his resignation from the Congress and accepted the primary membership of the saffron party.
The Congress leaders are yet to recover from this shock. It is learnt that former BJP State Unit President Prabhat Jha was instrumental in Rakesh Singh’s inclusion into the party. Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti has welcomed Rakesh Singh to the BJP, while other Congress leaders have slammed him and sought his disqualification from the Madhya Pradesh Assembly.
