Vijender Singh refuses to give Blood Sample
Under the scanner over the massive drug haul, Olympic bronze medalist boxer Vijender Singh was grilled by the Punjab police for nearly three hours yesterday, but he refused to give his blood and hair samples for forensic tests, fueling doubts over his honesty and integrity.
Vijender did not give any reasons why he was reluctant to share his blood and hair samples, which were necessary to take the probe forward. The recovery of 26 kg heroin worth Rs 130 crore from the car owned by Vijender’s wife, has taken the nation by storm. NRI drug peddler Anoop Singh Kahlon, who was carrying the drugs was arrested.
Vijender was reportedly in touch with Anoop on many occasions and also visited Kahlon to meet him. Vijender’s friend Ram Singh too claimed that he and Vijender used to take drugs as “food supplements”. Dismissed Punjab police DSP Jagdish Bhola was said to be the kingpin of the gang. At least seven people have been arrested in connection with the case so far.
