Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez dies at 58
People in Venezuela plunged into deep grief and despair, as their beloved President Hugo Chavez died at the age of 58. He was suffering from cancer. The socialist leaders always outsmarted their rivals and thwarted a coup attempt in his illustrious political career, but failed to beat the eventuality.
Chavez was instrumental in building Venezuela and giving it a new identity on the global arena. He always fought against the US hegemony and used Venezuela’s vast oil reserves to gain advantage over his opponents.
Hugo Chavez held the office for more than 14 years. He was inspired by Cuban leader Fidel Castro and never accepted the US dominance. His most famous mantra “I am a nation” still inspires millions of Venezuelans.
