Cyclone update

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that Cyclone Sitrang developed over the east-central Bay of Bengal around the late evening hours on Sunday.

The Low Pressure Area over north Andaman Sea and south-east Bay of Bengal intensified into a Depression on Saturday morning.

That may further intensify into a low pressure area by October 20 over southeast and adjoining central parts of Bay of Bengal, triggering heavy rains.

The low pressure area is expected to move in North West direction till evening of May 10 resulting in no cyclone landfall threat to Odisha, as informed by Indian Meteorological Department.
