Stingrays attack 57 during Ganesh Immersions in Mumbai
In a shocking development, stingrays attacked 57 people during the one-and-a-half-day immersions at Girgaum Chowpatty in Mumbai yesterday. All of them have complained of rashes and numbness in their feet and hands. At least 40 people have been admitted to hospital for treatment.
Although the sting is not poisonous, the doctors took all precaution to give the patients proper anti-biotics and medication so that they recover fast. There is panic in the area after the news spread that stingrays had come on the shore.
The BMC officials have asked the pollution control board and the oceanography department to inspect the area and take action to prevent such incidents.
