Shatrughan Sinha inches closer to JD (U)
Senior BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha, who recently raised the banner of revolt by criticising the party’s functioning in the media and even raised questions on Narendra Modi’s leadership while batting for LK Advani, is moving closer to the JD (U), as he met Bihar CM Nitish Kumar yesterday to inquire about his injured toe, which kept him out of the public glare for over a week.
Nitish Kumar, in his first public appearance since the Chhapra Mid-day Meal tragedy, which claimed the lives of 23 kids, has revealed that Shatrughan had met him. Although Nitish asked the media not to read much into this, his message was clear to the BJP – projection of Modi as the future PM at tge cost of LK Advani, will cost the saffron party dear, as many senior leaders like Shatrughan will ditch it sooner or later.
Shatrughan, who is a Lok Sabha MP from Patna Sahib, has been marginalised within the BJP for his off-the-talk remarks and deviation from the party stand on many issues. He failed to find a place in any of the panels formed by the BJP recently. Shatrughan probably knows that getting a party ticket in 2014 polls, would be an uphill task for him. Thus, he may switch sides to secure his political career.
