Rajnath Singh in US, bats for Narendra Modi
Giving all indications that Gujarat Chief Minister Narednra Modi could be the prime ministerial candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, BJP president Rajnath Singh appealed to the US to lift its ban on Modi.
Mr. Singh called Modi the only leader with ‘national appeal’ at a meeting in New Jersey. He also claimed that the party will get more allies before and after the polls. It is the developmental issues rather than the Ram Janam Bhoomi dispute would dominate BJP’s poll campaign.
He ruled himself out of the PM race at the meeting and batted for Modi to deliver his best if the party comes to power after 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
He nominated Modi as the Chairman of the party’s election campaign committee in view of his image, popularity and commitment to the party and country. Mr. Singh, who is on a five-day tour of the United States, said that he will demand the US government to lift its ban on Modi.
It should be noted that the US had denied Modi to give a Visa in 2005 for 2002 Gujarat riots.
