TNI Bureau: Thousands of people thronged the streets of Mumbai to bid a tearful adieu to Rajesh Khanna – Superstar of Hindi Cinema. Rajesh Khanna, who died at the age of 69 yesterday, was cremated at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Ville Parle.
Rajesh Khanna’s body was taken in a grand procession. The glass casket was decorated with flowers. Braving rain and bad weather conditions, over 10,000 people gathered outside the crematorium. Others stood by roadside to get glimpse of the last journey of the legend.

Among the family members, Rajesh Khanna’s estranged wife, Dimple Kapadia, elder son-in-law, Akshay Kumar, daughters Twinkle and Rinke and younger son-in-law Sameer Saran were present at the funeral.
The last rites were performed as per the Hindu traditions. Akshay Kumar’s son Aarav lit the funeral pyre. Many other celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Karan Johar, Vipul Shah, Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor were present during the funeral.
The security personnel had a tough time to control the crowd. The police had to resort to lathicharge to control the people, who were rushing towards the crematorium to see the departed soul for the last time.
