President’s Rule recommended in Jharkhand
TNI Bureau: The Union cabinet recommended President’s rule in Jharkhand keeping the House suspended after the BJP-JMM coalition government fell last week. The decision was taken on the basis of the report sent by Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed.
The JMM was expected to form the government, but fell to get support from Congress and others. Earlier, the President’s rule was imposed twice in the state, which was created in 2000.
The political crisis surfaced in the state after the BJP-led government in Jharkhand recommended the Assembly dissolution following the resignation of Chief Minister Arjun Munda.
Munda was forced to resign after the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) withdrew support to coalition government. The JMM has been threatening to pull out of the government on change of leadership and power sharing issues.
