‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ – A Complete Review
TNI Bureau: Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur’s performance can never be questioned, but the film ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ sounds completely meaningless. Since this is Vishal Bharadwaj’s venture, anything is possible and it should have some inner meaning. He is the man blessed with the quality of director unusual films.
However, the public will wonder what type of film it is. The film is set in a small town of North India, Haryana. Seems like, all the characters are wandering in search of something to justify their roles.
Matru (Imran Khan) is playing the role of a Jat, having long moustache. Mandola (Pankaj Kapur) is a land-cum-haveli owner, who loves to have alcohol more than anything else. Bijlee (Anushka Sharma) is his daughter. Shabana Azmi is a power-hungry female politician. Arya Babbar is playing a role of a son of Shabana.
It is a meat-and-potatoes kind of story. There is the conflict between poor farmers and rich, the true love vs villains. It shows how education saves our soul.
Shabana Azmi as female politician is dominating everyone showing her power. She knows what she wants and does accordingly. Anushka is a young girl, who believes in love. She is in different avatar, but is doing good job in bikini outfit,.
Whoever will watch the movie, the story will remain no longer in the mind after he/she steps out of the theatre. It can be said that the film is completely absurd where we will find nothing on the surface level.
