Mani Shankar Aiyar compares Opposition MPs to Animals
TNI Bureau: Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar landed in a fresh controversy for comparing opposition members of parliament with animals while participating in a television debate on logjam over FDI in multi-brand retail. The leader expressed his displeasure over the animal-like behaviour of MPs, who were rushing towards the well.
In a television debate, Aiyar said that the opposition MPs can express their point of views in a respectable manner instead of shouting and giving anti-government slogans in the house.
Aiyar express his views on television through the debate after the deadlock over the FDI in retail ended with the consent of the government to vote on the issue in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
Reacting to Aiyar’s comments, BJP slammed him, saying the Congress leader has no right to call MPs as animals. BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that Aiyar has been nominated to Rajya Sabha by Congress. However, such remark was not expected from a member of parliament as he has a vast experience in the Indian Foreign Service for over 25 years.
Rudy said that Aiyar is alleging the opposition MPs, while his party is being charged with corruption, scams.
