Mandate for Modi: ABVP sweeps DUSU Polls
The ABVP contested the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) polls by seeking a mandate for Narendra Modi. The polls were held on the same day when BJP declared Modi as itsvPM candidate. And, the first verdict is out. ABVP has swept the polls by winning three out of four posts, dealing a heavy blow to Congress-affiliated NSUI.
Aman Awana won the post of President, while Utkarsh Chaudhary became the Vice President. Raju Sawant was elected as the Joint Secretary. For NSUI, only Karishma Thakur won the post of General Secretary.
ABVP’s victory is seen as a welcome development before the Delhi Assembly polls. Since Modi commnds huge support among the youth, the BJP is hoping to encash his popularity in the 2014 general elections too.
