Jammu: Heavy firing on Indian posts, Intruder killed
TNI Bureau: Heavy firing erupted along the international border and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu after Pakistan violated the ceasefire last night. One intruder was killed in the gun battle.
The Indian security forces fired back after Pakistan troops fired on Indian posts of Mala Bela, Garkhal, Sidra camp and Naka Number-10 along international border in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district.
The firing erupted at around 10:30 pm on Sunday. The Pakistan army fired on Indian border aiming to facilitate a group of militants into Indian Territory. The BSF personnel fired back in which one intruder was killed and other escaped.
The firing was heard till 7.30 am on Monday. This is the 14th time that Pakistan violated the ceasefire rule along the international border and LoC in 15 days.
Earlier on August 17, the Heavy firing exchanges took place on Indian posts along international border in Abdullian and Korotona Border Out Posts (BoPS) in which BSF jawan Chander Rai was killed.
On August 15, two firing and ceasefire violations by Pakistan reported in Pansar Boder Out Post (BOP) along international border in Samba sector and Krishnagati forward belt along LoC.
The Pakistan troops had opened fire on Indian posts along the Indo-Pak border in Arnia sector of Jammu district on August 13.
