India thrash Australia by 243 Runs in Warm-Up Game
A magnificent second consecutive hundred by Dinesh Karthik and a quick-fire 91 off 77 balls by skipper MS Dhoni and superb bowling from Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma helped India thrash defending champions Australia in the warm-up game ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Karthik had scored an unbeaten hundred against Sri Lanka too.
India won the toss and elected to bat first. They slumped to 55/5 at one stage. However, Karthik (146*) and Dhoni (91) added 211 runs for the 6th wicket to revive the innings. India finished at 308/6 in 50 overs. Starc and McKay took two wickets each.
Chasing a victory target of 309, the Kangaroos fumbled before the Indian pace battery and bowled out for a paltry 65 in just 23.3 overs. Adam Voges was the top scorer with 23. Umesh Yadav took 5 wickets, while Ishant Sharma took 3 wickets.
