Hyderabad Blast Toll rises to 16

The death toll in yesterday’s twin bomb blasts in Hyderabad has gone up to 16 with two injured succumbing to their injuries. Four out of 117 injured are still in a critical condition. The Congress-led UPA Government is drawing flak from all quarters for failing to prevent the terror attack despite the intelligence reports.

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had to bear the brunt of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha even though he tried to invoke emotion, saying he did not sleep through the whole night and kept watching TV to get the information about the blasts.

Shinde revealed that IEDs were used in the blasts and they were placed on two bicycles. Timer was used to trigger the explosions. The first blast took at 6:58 PM and the second blast occurred at 7:01 PM.

The preliminary reports suggested that the blasts were planned much earlier and the CCTV cameras installed the near the spot was sabotaged at least four days before the incident. The NIA is probing the blast with the help of NSG, Andhra Pradesh Police and other agencies.
