Ex J&K Separatist Leader Sajjad Lone meets PM Modi
A day after BJP managed to roped in Ajatshatru Singh and Chaman Lal Gupta for Jammu & Kashmir Assembly polls, former separatist leader Sajjad Lone met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, fuelling speculations that he could support the party.
Jammu & Kashmir is going to polls on November 25. Lone, who leads the People’s Conference, had earlier announced that his party would contest the assembly polls. It is believed that he is ready to join hands with the BJP in J&K in a bid to counter PDP and National Conference.
BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav had recently met Lone in Srinagar. The outcome of the meeting was not revealed. But, it is believed that both leaders discussed a possible alliance in the state. Lone’s party has a strong base in 5 Assembly seats in Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Sajjad Lone is the son of the slain Hurriyat Conference leader Abdul Gani Lone.
