Centre announces 7th Pay Commission
In a bid to woo the government employees ahead of 2013 Assembly Polls and 2014 General Elections, the Congress-led UPA Government has announced the setting up of 7th Pay Commission, which will recommend the revision of pay of 50 lakh central government employees and 30 lakh pensioners.
The 7th Central Pay Commission will give its recommendation within two years. The recommendations will be implemented with effect from January 1, 2016. Once the Pay Commission report is approved for central government employees, it will be mandatory for all state governments to accept those and give similar benefits to their employees.
The Sixth Pay Commission recommendations were implemented on January 1, 2006, giving massive hike to all government employees. With the inflation and price rise hitting the sky in the last couple of years, the latest move of the government, will bring joy and relief to the government employees across the country.
