Sangeet SomSom is already in jail following the riots. He has been charged with making hate speeches and circulating a video on Facebook that showed the killing of two men that resulted in the violence across Muzaffarnagar district. As per the NSA, the accused can not get bail at least for six months. The stringent provision can only be revoked by an advisory board of the High Court judges.

Meanwhile, a Muzaffarnagar court on Tuesday granted bail to two other Uttar Pradesh legislators – BJP’s Suresh Rana and Bahujan Samaj Party’s Noor Salim Rana – sent to jail last week for their alleged role in the communal clashes.
