Can India return to the Olympic Fold?
In order to draw a road map for the country’s return to the Olympic fold, India’s sports administrators will hold a crucial meeting with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne today.
The meeting assumes great importance for India’s sporting future as it will be the first time that the IOC and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) sit down to discuss the issue. The meeting comes five months after the country was suspended for failing to adhere to the Olympic charter.
The meeting will be attended by Sports Minister Jitendra Singh, Sports Secretary PK Deb, Beijing Olympics gold-medallist shooter Abhinav Bindra and Olympian sailor Malav Shroff.
