BCCI suspends CSK CEO Gurunath Meiyappan
Under pressure from the cricket fans, political parties and common people, the BCCI has finally suspended President N Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan from all association with cricket pending inquiry.
The BCCI statement confirmed that in view of the detention of Meiyappan by the Mumbai Police, the BCCI has decided to suspend him from any involvement in the sport of cricket and in particular from any involvement with the Chennai Super Kings team.
The decision was taken under the provisions of the IPL Operational Rules and the BCCI Anti-Corruption Code. Meanwhile, raids are being conducted at Meiyappan’s residence in Chennai to garner further information about his involvement in betting and spot-fixing. According to the police sources, he passed crucial info about CSK’s strategy to the bookies.
