Amidst the turmoil within the BCCI over the arrest of CSK CEO Gurunath Meiyappan and demands for resignation of his father-in-law and BCCI chief N Srinivasan, the controversial IPL 6 is going for a close today, as Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are heading for the final showdown.
Chennai, which is morally down after the arrest of its CEO and the reports of involvement of three of its players in the scandal, is still raring to go as the favourite team to win this tournament. CSK knows that things won’t be the same for them after the IPL final. But, they want to give their best shot to end things with much pride.
The most consistent in the IPL history, the Chennai Super Kings have entered the final for the fifth time in six seasons. The won the title twice and this is their fourth straight appearance in the final. Mumbai Indians have never won the title, but entered the final for the second time. They have never won this tournament.
For CSK, in-form batsmen Mike Hussey (Orange Cap holder), Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni hold the key in batting. In bowling, Dwayne Bravo, who holds the purple cap, will spearhead the attack with the support from Mohit Sharma, Albie Morkel, R
Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
For Mumbai, Dwayne Smith, Aditya Tare, Rohit Sharma and Keiron Pollard need to fire
in batting department. In bowling, Mitchell Johnson, Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan
Singh will have to keep the momentum going.
