India lose to Pakistan in Asian Champions Trophy Hockey
TNI Bureau: India’s bid to retain the Asian Champions Trophy Hockey title, was foiled by a spirited Pakistan, which won a thrilling final with a goal margin of 5-4. India had defeated Pakistan 2-1 in the round robin stage, but failed to repeat the magic in the final in Doha.
The young Indian team produced brilliant display of Hockey, as they were leading 2-1 at half time. However, experienced Pakistani players bounced back to take the game into control towards the end.
For Pakistan, Muhammad Waqas (7th, 57th), Mohammad Imran (48th, 64th) and Shafqat Rasool (42nd) scored the goals. For India, S V Sunil (9th), VR Raguunath (21st), Gurvinder Singh Chandi (55th) and Rupinder Pal Singh (59th) scored.
