In a shocking incident, a newborn baby boy was sold to a Delhi-based businessman for Rs 8 lakh in Ludhiana. The deal was made through Facebook, the popular social media site.
The baby was allegedly sold by his grandfather Feroze Khan with the help of a nurse and another hospital employee Gurpreet Singh, who had posted the picture of the baby on Facebook before finalising the deal with the businessman.

The child was rescued following a raid at the residence of the buyer Amit Kumar in Delhi. Later, the baby was handed over to his mother Noorie. Police have arrested Khan and three others. A case has been registered against Amit Kumar.
During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Khan wanted to sell the baby in order to give his daughter Noorie a better life who was deserted by her husband. He wanted his daughter should get marry for second time.
