5th ODI at Cuttack’s Barabati Cancelled
In a huge disappointment for millions of cricket lovers in the country and people of Odisha, the fifth ODI between India and Australia at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, has been cancelled due to heavy rains and wet outfield.
The incessant rains in the last five days, damaged the outfield completely, making things difficult for the ground staff. Even though rains receded today, the ground was not suitable to hold the game. Match referee Roshan Mahanama inspected the ground this morning and called off the match.
Earlier yesterday, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) Secretary Mr. Ashirbad Behera, had hinted at the cancellation of the ODI and intimated the press that refund will be issued at Counter No. 1, 2 and 3 towards the purchased tickets from November 8 till November 15.
Australia lead the seven-match ODI series 2-1 after the matches in Ranchi and Cuttack were abandoned. The sixth ODI will be held in Nagpur on Wednesday, October 30.
