The elections for Zilla Parishad Chairperson posts in Puri and Mayurbhanj, have been postponed due to heavy rains and flood situation in these districts. The polls were supposed to be held on October 29.

The State Election Commission (SEC) took the decision to put the elections on hold, considering the widespread devastation caused by Cyclone Phailin and floods aftermath. The District Collectors of Puri and Mayurbhanj had made these requests.
It can be noted that the polls for Zilla Parishad Chairpersons’ posts in Puri and Mayurbhanj due to the sudden demise if incumbent Chairpersons in these districts.
