TNI Bureau: Vyjayanthimala Bali, the Veteran yesteryear actress is returning to silver screen after a long span of 42 years. She will be seen in Sandeep Malani directed ‘Janleva 555’, a film for a cause.
Bali was last seen in ‘Ganwaar’ opposite Rajendra Kumar in 1970. However, as per the director-producer duo the actress immediately agreed when she was told about the cause. The film conveys an important message to the audience and that is the heart of the film. It is a medical cause made to support and to help acquire ventilator systems supplied to the hospitals.
The senior actress was happy to grab the opportunity after a long break because of the project’s noble mission. The film teaches the people in the villages and especially children who die of snake bites as the story of the film also includes a kind of ventilator system that helps children bitten by snakesis.
Vyjayanthimala (76) will be seen in a two to three minutes video to be played before the film, which talks about how to save cobra bitten children in villages. Her portion was shot right at her ancestral residence in Chennai, where she lives these days.
Bali is much excited for the film and appreciated the endeavor by Kalpana Pundit, the producer and the director. She wishes all success to the film and that was accepted as the most precious gift by the crews. She reportedly mentions the film to be ‘one-of-its-kind’.

Vyjanthimala had started her journey as an artist too early at the age of 4, when she got the rare chance of performing a dance before the Pope. She entered to filmdom at the age of 15, through a Tamil film ‘Vazhkai’, which succeed so much in the box office that it was then re-made in Hindi in 1951 titled ‘Bahaar’.
Indian cinema owes Bali for her outstanding dance aptitude. Her performed dance numbers are the most acclaimed ones even today. Her dance numbers, such as ‘Hothon Pe Aisi Baat Main Dabake Chali Aai…’, ‘Man Doley Mera Tan Doley…’; ‘Chad Gaiyo Paapi Bichua…’; ‘Main Ka Karu Ram Mujhey Buddha Mil Gaya’ are masterpieces in Indian Film history.
She hit the headlines when appeared in a bikini in Raj Kapoor’s ‘Sangam’ in an era, when Indian girls were been brought up in utmost conservatism. She has appeared in approximately 62 movies and her career spanned from 1949 through to 1989.
Bali has received a total of five awards for her performances in ‘Devdas’ (old), ‘Sadhna’, ‘Ganga Jamuna’, and ‘Sangam’, as well as a lifetime achievement award during 1995.
‘Janleva 555’is Kalpana’s maiden home production and she is much excited for the good wishes blessed by the ‘first original superstar of Indian Cinema’ in her language.
