Uproar over Killing of Two Youths in Kashmir
The Killing of two youths in army firing triggered massive protests in Kashmir valley’s Bandipore district today. The bandh called by the separatist groups including both Hurriyat Conference and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) hit normal life across the valley.
Shops, business establishments, educational institutions, banks and busses remained closed due to the strike. The tension intensified after two youths were killed and another was injured army firing at Markundal in Sumbal area of Bandipora on Saturday. The angry villagers pelted stones on Sunday at the security forces deployed at the village following the incident.
The protesters alleged that the troops fired at a youth who had stepped out of his house. The boy was innocent, but he was gunned down, the villagers alleged.
Police have registered a murder case against unidentified army personnel. A probe has also been ordered into the incident that led to deaths of two young people in the valley.
