Telangana: UPA, CWC to meet Tomorrow
The UPA Coordination Committee meeting will be held on July 30 to take a final decision on the statehood status to Telagana. On the same day, the Congress Working Comittee will also meet to discuss the issue.
Now, it’s an open secret now the Congress Party led by Sonia Gandhi and UPA Government under PM Manmohan Singh have agreed to carve out a separate Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad will be a Union Territory like Chandigarh and will be the shared capital between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Congress MPs and Ministers from other parts of Andhra Pradesh, have vociferously opposed the creation of Telangana. Andhra Pradesh CM Kiran Kumar Reddy also opposed the bifurcation of the state and already tendered his resignation to the Congress High Command. But, it has not been made public till date.
Lok Sabha MPs – MM Pallam Raju, KS Rao, Chiranjeevi, D Purandeshwari, K Bapiraju and Anantarami Reddy are reportedly opposed to the creation of Telangana and favour a United Andhra Pradesh. But, the Congress leaders have made up their mind to derive political mileage in the state where the party is in a precarious position.
The Congress is worried after BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi claimed that his party will form the separate state of Telangana within 24 hours of coming to power.
