Malala, who was campaigning in favour of girl’s education, was shot in the head and neck by the Taliban militants while she was returning home on October 9. She is being treated at a Birmingham hospital in UK.

Ban Ki-Moon noted that Malala is an inspiration for girls’ education across the world. He further hoped that celebrating Malala Day will step up the efforts on UN’s Education First initiative.
