TNI Bureau: The world was taken by surprise when North Korea confirmed with pride that it has successfully carried out its third underground nuclear test. Without bothering about global condemnation, North Korea “dared” the US and United Nations.

As expected, US President Barack Obama condemned the incident and called for “swift” and “credible” international action against North Korea. The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will hold an emergency meeting in New York hours later to take a definite stand.

The US, South Korea, Japan and the United Nations had warned North Korea not to go ahead with the test. Even, China had called for a restraint. However, North Korea snubbed the global opinion and went ahead with the test, which was not at all required when everyone talks about global peace and economic development.

North Korea had earlier conducted nuclear tests in 2006 and 2009. It also carried out a series of missile launches at regular intervals. A mild earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 was recorded, when North Korea conducted its nuclear test today.
