Mushfiqur Rahim – 1st Bangladeshi to score Test Double Ton
When Indian skipper MS Dhoni became the first Captain-cum-Wicket Keeper to score a Test double hundred, cricket pundits were amused that such a record occurred 136 years after the Test Cricket started. However, in less than 15 days, another Captain-Wicket Keeper achieved that milestone.
Mushfiqur Rahim not only achieved that rare feat, but also became the first Bangladesh cricketer to score a Test double hundred. He made exactly 200 against Sri Lanka in Galle. Rahim scored 200 off 321 balls with 21 boundaries and one six.
Mohammad Ashraful was unlucky to miss out on a double hundred, as he was out for 190. Nasir Hossain too completed his hundred. Earlier, Sri Lanka had declared on 570/4, thanks to Sangakkara (142) and Thirimanne (155*). Bangladesh were 632/9 when reports last received.
