Mayawati takes on Hamid Ansari in Rajya Sabha
TNI Bureau: BSP chief Mayawati took on Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari for leaving the House daily during Question Hour. She held responsible Ansari for not smooth functioning of the House that has been facing repeated adjournment over past two days.
Mayawati dared to blame Ansari, by raising her voice during the Question Hour. She said that running the House smoothly was his responsibility and accused him of leaving the House daily by 12 noon. He is also absent during the Question Hour. She wanted clarification from Ansari about the Government’s stand on the bill to provide reservations in promotions for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.
“You go at 12… House should run. To ensure this is your responsibility. When it will be 12, you will not be seen,” she said.
“I am not ready to listen to anything. We have seen in the last few days that every day the House is not allowed to function after 12 noon. It is your responsibility to ensure that it functions. Who will ensure that it functions,” she said. “You are not seen here after 12 noon… What kind of House is this? You have to take decision that what has to be done for the smooth running of the House”, she said.
The Upper House was stunned to see Mayawati’s attitude towards Ansari during Question Hour. Ansari told her that she was a senior leader and should allow the House to function. It is the responsibility of everyone to let the House function smoothly, he said. However, the BSP chief was dissatisfied with the answer.
The House was adjourned after the BSP members climbed to the chairman’s podium to press their demand to pass the quota bill that has been opposed by the SP members.
